Six weeks old is the age they're at now, which is the age they're aloud to be seperated. My science teacher is getting two girls, but it's going to be there first time away from mom and around so many people.
Any recomendations on how to prepare them and make them more comfortable? How should I prepare a cage for 2 six week old baby rats?
Don't have people crowding around the cage. Only the teacher should handle the Rats - if otherwise, one person at a time should be holding them. No fighting over them to hold them.
The teacher should keep the rats on/near her desk so no kids try to feed them something that could harm them. A quiet classroom most of the time could help make them comfortable. Also covering them half with a blanket for some parts of the day, and giving them plenty of spots to hide in their cage. (e.g. tubes, igloo, etc.)
