How do you get rid of Rats in the attic?

We got a cage to catch them but we still have a bit one is the attic. How do you get rid of Rats in the attic?
You may not like this answer but... you can use poison, but then if a cat or dog eats the rat you get a sick or dead dog or cat. You can use snap traps, but rats catch on really fast and they can break your little fingers.

You can use the trap you already have, use peanut butter for bait, or something sweet, they love sweet stuff. Just remember to place it in the center of the end past tripping mechanism. Tie it down with wire or something like that. You may need a bigger trap if he is really big!

You state that you have a big one in the attic. The reason he is big is because he is smart. Read that as trap savy. If it were me I would get a pellet gun and tape small flshlight to the barrel and shoot the sucker! In the dark area of the attick at night he should be easy to spot. And the light would daze him for a short time. He would fix on it, then you could fix on him. But that is just me.

Good luck! How do you get rid of Rats in the attic?
The exterminator has special devices they use. you can try poisons. Get the good ones. The ones with the green bars seem to work best. It is call Tom Cat or something like that.
Rat trap works but the fastest way of getting rid of all of them is to use rat poison. Rat poison is also less messy. It will just dry the rat up from inside out. Can't stand of hearing them running a muck at night.
Get the sticky glue traps. The kind that look like a tray with a layer of glue. Put bird seed on it.you will have it by morning.

DOnt put poison in your attic , the rat will crawl away and die in a wall or something, you wont be able to retrieve it and your house will smell.
get a pet python
a good cat
Call a pest control company.
What you DON'T do is put the cat in the basement!
Put some D-con in the attic
DO NOT USE POISON !!!!! The rodents will eat it and then crawl away to die somewhere over your ceiling ,then several days later you will begin to smell the dead bodies as the heat in the attic begins to liquify them and you will have no idea where to look .

Use traps only -bait with peanut butter and check each morning . Its important to find out how they are gaining entrance -often near ground level and then up past the studs to the attic level-look around outside faucets and around sill plate area .
Throw a cat up there for a while.
Yikes, move...
rat traps. are you certain it's a rat? could be a racoon or possum.
Chose a fluffy cat or a cold hard snake.
