How can I tell if my rats going into labor?

I noticed that she is laying down, and stretching out on her side and once in a while her tail does a little twitch. I have one other pregnant female in the cage, but she has her nest in a different spot. How can I tell if my rats going into labor?
that stretching she is doing is a contraction. weather or not its the real deal or just braxton hick is up to you to watch. If you see her digging, breathing heavy, making weird sounds, and spotting from her back end then it's the real deal.

Two females are perfectly fine to be housed together, they will actually care for eachothers babies. How can I tell if my rats going into labor?
A pregnant rats water will break before giving birth. The rats water can break several hours or even 24 hours before she goes into labor. The breaking water will look like water with a slight reddish/blood tint. (Most of the time us humans don't notice the water has broken, unless it happens in our presence.) The pregnant Mom will start bleeding lightly before giving birth. Signs your rat may be going into labor is stretching and moving herself around in sort of odd positions. Try not to watch the Female give birth to closely, she may get nervous which could cause complications or make the birthing take longer.
Uh, is it safe to house two pregnant females? Won't they eat eachothers babies? Rodents usually stretch out, and you can see her sides contracting, and chatter their teeth or squeak in pain. Then they reach down and pull the baby out. Hope I can help:)
well if she is pregnet you should know is it really fat? here is how a pregnet rat looks

You could call your vet,but if she is, no need to worry. Most animals have natural instincts and know what to do when having birth. Good luck to you, your rat, and future little rat babies :)
Seems like it would be good to educate yourself before letting your pets reproduce, but...

  2. Hey, so if you have two females together with babies be careful, they might take the babies from each other and then the babies won’t get milk. Just monitor it but unless it’s a big cage it shouldn’t be a problem.
