tc1987 is right. They could definitely just be in season.
Also, if their enclosure is too small or they are bored, that can definitely cause them to be aggressive. They're also super-intelligent (they measure up to the average intelligence of dogs!) so sometimes just keeping them more occupied will be enough to curtail aggressive behavior.
Be sure you have read up on their diet and everything is varied and balanced, but also appropriate sources. Excess protein, or bad protein sources can cause aggression in adults. It's also unhealthy in the longrun.
If the bites don't hurt, then they are being affectionate toward you. My boys all ';groom'; my boyfriend and I in the evenings. It's just an affectionate thing. If they are doing a lot of grinding their teeth and their eyes are bulging, they are probably happy and playing. If their hair is sticking up and they are huffing and hissing at you, that's not a good sign! If their tail waggles like a little worm, that means they are agitated as well.
Good luck!
ps- the person who said, ';ew'; is ignorant. Why post if you have nothing to say and don't know what you're talking about? Why are my pet rats biting all of a sudden?
eww u have rats!!! well i dont know why they are biting
a tornado could be heading your way!
maybe they have ticks or fleas?
I used to have pet rats, cute little creatures arnt they! They could be in 'season' and thats when they become very hormonal and will nip at anything they desire. If this isnt the case they could be very hungry or bored!
