What is your rats favorite toy or cage accessory?

I am going to get some more toys and cage accessories for my rats. So I was just wondering what is your rats favorite? Hopefully this will help me not waste money on toys that they will hate. :) Thanks!What is your rats favorite toy or cage accessory?
My rats don't like anything store bought, they love cardboard boxes though, big or small and they're free so when they get dirty, toss and place a new one in. Hammocks are excellent too, we use an old sock, cut it open and hang it up with wire, excellent cheap and easy hammock, better then tossing the sock away and all you have to do when it gets icky is throw it in the washer. Their absolute number 1 fav toy is a toilet paper or paper towel tube with a crumbled up kashi granola bar inside, twisting the ends shut, takes them all a short time to go through it but they love it.


Even better yet, a hard boiled egg, shell and all (cooled of course) they go crazy and toss it around, chew at it and throw it down levels, quite comical.What is your rats favorite toy or cage accessory?
i bought a toy for my ratties which you can hide treats in. It has a weight in the bottom so that it bounces back up once your ratties push it down to get the treats out. It has a little bell in it too so the rats get excited when they hear you filling it up :) Mine love it :) My girl doesnt even bother to knock it over, she literally picks it up and throws it across her cage or drops it off a high level into the base of the cage and all the treats spill out! Its so funny to watch :) I got mine from a pet shop and its in the shape of a hamster, but iv seen rat ones on ebay :)





other than that, boxes, loo roll tubes, paper scrunched up with treats inside, seedy sticks for rats, hammocks





apparently a lot of people with rats i know dont like rat balls, and its bad for their backs, so i wouldnt bother getting one of them, just let them out to play in a secure, enclosed room :)





other thing that amuses my rats, and i know its not a toy or accessory but mine love monkey nuts in the shell, keep them amused for ages and its cute to watch them open up the shell and eat the nut- mine even take of the skin from around the nut :) And i bought a big bag for like 60p so they arnt expensive :)

also balls with bells in so they can roll around with. just be careful with the cat balls that has the gap in. In case your rats swallows it.





You do with a ball with no holes in then it be safe.





they like ladder ropes





and an snuggle hammock they like to swing snore in..
I agree with the first poster. My rats love cardboard boxes, especially soda boxes. Hammocks and tubes are great places to cuddle. A piece of large newsprint or tissue paper will keep them happy for hours.





They have never played with any commercial toys.
my rats hate hamster balls, but love to sleep in hammocks, huts are fun to play in and around, sometimes tubes are fun, wheels can be fun... :D
Octoplay, hands down when they're out of the cage. In the cage it is definately the double decker hammock.
