What home concoction can i use to tranquilize my rats?

I need to cliptheir toenails, but tthey never sit still long enough for me to clip them. What home concoction can i use to tranquilize my rats?
My rats had sharp claws until I added a brick to their cage. Works beautifully!

The only time I have to clip toenails is in senior rats who are losing the use of their hind legs. They drag them, and therefor do not wear down the toenails.

Good luck. What home concoction can i use to tranquilize my rats?
I don't recommend this in the least, but if you insist on drugging your pets, try alcohol in some form of drink, preferably beer. Pour a teaspoon at into a bowl for them, put more in as they lick it up, wait a minute before each teaspoon, you don't want to overdose, and clip when they get drowsy. be sure they have access to plenty of food and water and are nice and comfy, dim the lights, and hope they don't have too much of a hangover. Or if you want to do the responsible, if expensive, thing, go see a vet or groomer. or go to a pet shop.
Never use human medication on an animal without a vet's advice. You have no idea of the proper dosing or if the medication has a bad effect on that particular species.
NOOO don't use drugs like that!

Distract them with a piece of an apple or there favorite treat!

NEVER POISON RATS LIKE THAT
Beer
I wouldn't recommend giving them anything especially not alcohol. The best advice is to take them to the vet to get something that you can use or even have them clip their nails for you.
Very hard to say, since they're so small, you could easily overdose them on just about anything. Have you considered asking a vet for ideas, or allowing them to run around (in a confined area) on concrete? (This is what I've always done, and it seems to work fine. I've never clipped my rats' nails).
Just go to the vet; forget what your mother said; she doesn't have a clue, or she doesn't like the rat, puts up with it for your sake, and can't wait for it to be gone.
